Fortress and home since medieval times, Warwick Castle is now a popular tourist attraction.
A bowed path provides a view towards Guy’s Tower and leads in to the narrow gatehouse. It feels cool, dark, and serious – emphasized by a halberd, voulge and shields – yet soon opens to a glorious sunlit courtyard with mounted knights patrolling.
Along the southern ramparts lies The Great Hall, and above it various accomodation each with a themed exhibition.
Great to picnic with the enchanting view across the River Avon from the slope below Ethelfleda’s mound. This is also the place to watch “The Trebuchet Show” which is easy going fun.
Following the river around brings you to “The Falconer’s Quest”. Starring owls, eagles, hawks, kites and vultures, this is an amazing story show where the the birds fly over and through the audience!
