Crazy eyes
I have always had eyes that work independently, and I primarily use my left eye. This is my excuse for my terrible performance when playing ball games. When I was young I had an operation to correct a squint and ever since then I had annual / biannual checkups at a local optometrist - I was always told by vision was fine.
The checkups seem to have lapsed since I moved to Bristol. Anyway, last thursday I had an eye test... "Right eye first, read the letters"... 'A N K Z F P R K (or what ever they were)'... "Ok, now your left eye"... 'A N K ... Oh! Umm'... [bigger letters] 'X Y ... Eak, still can't read them'... [giant letters] L Y R ... ⌈Yikes, I really cant read those!⌋
So on goes the frame-rack thing that lets the optician slot in lenses at will. A few lenses go in, a few questions with a lens on a stick, then even more lenses get racked up - by now I'm feeling distinctly like a Borg >"<. Back to the letters - Wow, which I can now read perfectly!
And so, I'm told I would have much better vision in the eye I use primarily if I had glasses. As the optician brought me back upstairs from the examination room the Specsavers machine sprung into action... I was assigned a sales person and found myself being shown frames to choose from. STOP! All too fast... well, I was about to, but on the other hand, being able to see better immediately made sense too.
So here we go:
I'm happy - I really can see much better now... And of course they make me look even more suave & professional computer nerdy... XD

You are being watched...
Last week one of the guys at work said there was an Eagle Owl living in a tree just down the road... I went looking a couple of times, but couldn't find him/her. Then on Sunday afternoon a passing stranger pointed him/her out, up in a tree watching me. By then it was dusk and too dark for a photo, but I went back on Monday and managed a little clearer view:
For a clearer picture, my colleague Paul, took a much more beautiful photo of the owl last week.

James Hollingsworth
James Hollingsworth is a singer, songwriter & guitarist, whom I first met through my friend Yuan-Yuan. Last Sunday a group of friends and me went to see James' latest performance at The Hare On The Hill Pub. James has an extensive and dynamic original repertoire, having recorded over eight albums. His singing and guitar are really wonderful. I recommend everyone go to James Hollingsworth's web site where you can listen to his songs online ...and of course go to one of his gigs where you can really see his talent.

Pearl milk tea, a first attempt
I like pearl milk tea but have never tried to make it before.
It's been one of those thursdays that actually turned out to be a wednesday, so happening upon some pearls in the back of my cupboard, I thought I would give it a go...
The recipe was somewhat ad-lib, involving brown sugar, white sugar, coffee-mate, green tea and red (black) tea. I would give the result three out of ten on the following basis:
- It wasn't poisonous.
- It looked nearly right.
- I got the level of sweetness about right (vaguely sweet).
Actually it tasted quite nice, but nothing like it should have done. I'm looking forward to the next time - Essential points for the future being:
- Cupboard protocol... I had small white pearls. I need to find some of the bigger dark ones.
- Method... Making it up as you go along doesn't work, but was quite relaxing.

Humour?
Prison Rabbit... is an animated series produced by Kanaban Graphics for MTV Japan. Each episode is about 90 seconds long and has no speech.
The series, whose correct title is 'Usavich', depicts a pair of rabbits incarcerated in a Russian gaol and their escapades. I find it immensely funny, but some of my friends don't see why! I think it may be similar to Marmite in that respect.
You can see more at the official site and a variety of fan sites if you search a little.

Why blog?
There must be many millions of blogs lingering out there in the land of the web... does anybody read them? Why do people write them? What value do the authors believe their blogs bring to the world, if any? The answers to these questions are surely multifarious.
Personally... perhaps I am a sheep following the crowd? I certainly don't hold up anything written here as having any great world value!...
The future is unknown.
